Projects -- Wire Torsos or fun with short rows

So that well deserved reputation for knitting with almost anything continues. Floral wire is cheap and has a very different quality than kynar, copper, silver and telephone wire. At comparable wire gauges, it requires a much larger needle and is less compliant than copper but it still really fun to play with. I found the pink stuff on close out at a local Michael's. I think it was a buck or less for a paddle of the stuff. I'd had this short-row torso sculpture thing kicking around in my head for awhile and this stuff looked like it would fit that bill. I knit the one shown on the Wire Works page one Sunday afternoon. I started it at the Whistlestop knitting event and finished it on the walk home -- her dimensions correspond roughly to a 36 - 24 - 36 figure.

The "girl" on the far right in the image below is a bit more of a Dolly Parton/Pamela Anderson/Jessica Rabbit type and the non-clad floral wire approximates my own figure ratios. As I recall, 4mm (US 6) needles and the wire gauge is 28 -- compare that to the 28 gauge copper wire pointe shoes.
