The evolution of a paper lace star or morphing polygons
So clearly I'm hooked on pine paper yarn, whether it be the IK shoes, the mini-pointe shoes, the lace balls or some of the lazy lace pieces, I just love the way this stuff works up.

I also have a thing about polygons worked from the centre out, short-rows and lace. So here's a project or two that combines all of the above. The photos to the right show, in sequence, will show:

  • the centre out swirl increase polygon in progress
  • the interim (aka pre-bind/cast off) polygon/star with the short rowed points rolling over onto themselves
  • the resulting star
  • The last snap shows a five pointed star that uses the geometric increase method. Both of the 5 pointed stars were worked using much larger needles and two different bind/cast offs but I'm still not thrilled with the result.

A couple of six pointed stars are also in the works and if you guessed that they start as hexagons you get bonus points.
