Project Oink and the Popoki Purse

Shortly before I created Señor Frog and started on the voyage of discovery that is knitting with day-glo nylon twine, I had been playing around with medallion knitting on straight needles (aka knitting flat) and most of the experiments revloved around creating faus circles.

When I saw the pink twine (dubbed "positively painful pink" by Mary McGee Wood) I immediately thought of knitting a pink pig pocketbook for a friend with a passion for pigs. Thus was born "Project Oink" which made for a nice prototype and the basis for a number of other designed-but-not-knitted other animal purses/pillows etc.

A few years back the concept came back to the head of the queue and second prototype was born. The Popoki purse has improvements on the first effort in that it now has gussets to make it more purse and less pocket but the material for the prototype proved less than ideal. It has been presented to a couple of different test knitters to work on over the years but it never seems to get to the top of their knitting queues so it and Oink remain to be revisited projects.
